New Designers

At New Designers in LondonI exhibited the same Deforestation stuff as in Brick Lane (chosen by my tutors as they thought it was my strongest commercial work from the year.)

While we were there we became good chums with the Portsmouth lot and ended up having a bit of a friendly doodle off with them. You can see my penguin, mouse, robin, heart, ice cream, hill and homes, birdies and text here...it was a lot of fun, but the fumes from the markers were definitely not good for me!

Also, some wonderful news, I got talent spotted by Hallmark Cards! Wippee! They commissioned me to produce some work for their xmas 2012 range and since then they have offered me a two week internship up Bradford in September. Happy times!

Brick Lane

I had such an awesome time during this exhibition, a big thanks to Shelley for being so hospitable! Here are some photos from our 'You Are Here' exhibition in The Annexe, Brick Lane, including photos of my space, the badges and brochures I designed and shelf of affordable things that me and Rhi Pardoe displayed our zines/handmade book on.

Arboretum

My design was chosen by my peers for the brochure and poster design of our degree show. Here are some photos of my exhibition piece too including the no matter where we go zine, some hand made paper buildings and an illustrated journey between homes.

Doodle-Esque

Second Year illustration recently exhibited in the main entrance to the Dynevor Building in Swansea Met University. The exhibition was called Doodle-esque and was a celebration of those 'Eureka moments' you often get when drawing. You often find when sketching something roughly that the marks and lines you create in the moment are impossible to replicate. The spontaneity and looseness of a doodle can be better than the final artwork...we were asked to select some of our favourite doodles that fitted this criteria to exhibit.
I'm a perfectionist so didn't really have much to go up as I throw away scribbles or I work on one piece until it becomes final artwork. So I had to pick some of my life drawing to go up, it looked very different to some of my classmates but I was relatively happy with it regardless.
My favourites from the exhibition were Karl Mountford's, Tom Ward's and Alex Chapman's contributions. Oh, and Leanne Ellis shared the space with us, her work is fantastic, check it out here!

exhibiting my illustrations

i've been offered a great opportunity to exhibit some of my work in the J-Shed over in SA1 (the posh bit of swansea haha). it's not an actual gallery, so people can't just walk in and see my stuff. but it's a very good opportunity for me as they hold business events/functions there, so lots of random business people will get to see my work.
there's a chance nothing will come out of this, however, there's also a tiny chance that i might get some work from it. i'm hoping i'll get some business experience and confidence out of this opportunity :)
